AGA Cleaning

Today I have been to the other side of Swindon to a place called Faringdon to clean a 3 oven AGA. It was a 13 Amp electric one, without AIMS, and the lady has had it for three years. I also cleaned it 12 months ago. When I got there I remembered the AGA as it doesn’t seem to have springs on the lid hinges like they normally do. So I think it was installed without these springs. I can’t remember seeing one like this before. I must have thought the same last year and the owner had phoned AGA after I had gone last year. They didn’t do anything about the problem just said who was the person who pointed it out?! I not sure if I have missed an update on the AGA; do the newer ones have a different spring arrangement on the lid hinges? If I am wrong please let me know. I’ll try and check with AGA on Twitter and Facebook to see if I can get an answer.
Also on this AGA I noticed that No 3 oven looked like it had been running at a very high temperature as it was the dirtiest of the three ovens. I was unable to get the carbon off of the inside of the ovens which is very unusual. So isn’t this oven supposed to be at temperature less than the main “roasting oven”.
